Mosaics

My mosaics are primarily made from up-cycled salvaged materials: Vintage china, discarded and donated pottery, mixed in with glass tesserae and mounted onto reclaimed wood and slate.

I take a great pleasure in up-cycling these unwanted items and delight in seeing them transformed into beautiful contemporary works of art.

Building a mosaic work can be an extremely satisfying process, from gathering the materials, then breaking them down and remodelling the fragments into a totally different entity, and I particularly enjoy the technique of re assembling and fitting the elements together, this is the most absorbing part of the practise and time simply runs away.

The challenge of making a personnel commission is also a pleasure; these may include china which has been inherited, or broken treasures that someone wants to give a new life to. Please contact me for further details.
